For the last 4 weeks I have been following Musclefood’s Do The Unthinkable Plan. In that time I have eaten 3 meals & 3 snacks 6 days a week and completed 12 at home workouts. As I have reached the end of the 4 weeks I wanted to share with you my final thoughts and answer any questions that you may have regarding the plan!
What is Do The Unthinkable?
You choose your breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for either 5, 6 or 7 days and they are delivered straight to your door. All preparation is done for you, all you have to do is cook or heat it. You will also receive unlimited access to Do The Unthinkable workout programme and get a free DVD along with your food order, along with a recipe book, Calibers & a Progress tracker Poster.. What can you eat?
I was a bit worried about finding food I would enjoy everyday for 4 weeks but I was pleasantly surprised and in the last week there was some new additions to the menu that were super tasty (Stuffed Sweet Potato & Steak anyone!?) Examples of the food you can have:
Breakfast: Pancakes, Oats, Protein Bars, Eggs & Cookies
Lunch & Dinners: Pasta Kits, Rice Pots, Curries, Pizza, Fajita mixes & Chicken Dishes
Snacks: Protein Bars, Cheese & Nuts, Olives, Crisps, Jerky & Chicken Skewers
Typical Day of meals:
Breakfast: Pancakes with Caramel Sauce (Sweet freedom from Aldi is lovely!)
Snack: Cheese & Nuts Snack & Strawberries
Lunch: Chicken Satay Rice Pot (Delicious!)
Snack: Nakd Pecan Pie Bar
Dinner: Chicken Tikka Pizza with Coke Zero
Snack: Barebells Salty Peanut Protein Bar & 3kcal Jelly
Exercise
I have to be honest, the exercise is hard. However, it is done and dusted in 30 minutes or less and you only have 3 workouts a week. I find it is a similar style to the 30 day shred and you can adapt the exercises and intensity to less. I found myself adapting a few exercises myself and actually by the end of Phase 1 I was able to do them with no adaptations! It is amazing how far you can come in such a short space, but I find the workouts work best when you really push yourself. If you are a completely newbie and haven’t done anything in years, then it will definately be more than challenging. The workout includes exercises such as Bodyweight Squats, Pushups, High Knees, Squat Thrusters and Glute Bridges.
I love the fact you do a fit test before & after Phase 1 and it is a great way to see how much you improve over the 4 weeks!
| Exercise | Fit test 1 | Fit test 2 |
| Mountain Climbers | 82 | 100 |
| Bodyweight Squats | 10 | 8 |
| Squat Thrusters | 12 | 20 |
| Deadlift & Press | 25 | 30 |
| 1,2,3’s with High Knees | 11 | 14 |
| Push Ups | 4 | 6 |
| Glute Bridges | 60 | 65 |
| Side Lunges | 27 | 36 |
Pros & Cons
- It didn’t feel like I was dieting, there was so much food and for 3 weeks I ate pizza and pancakes nearly every day!
- There is no cooking involved unless you pick a meal kit
- Loads of variety
- No planning or preparation
- Workouts are done in less than 30 minutes
- It does seem to be a big cost (£69 a week)
- Doesn’t educate you when it comes to cooking for yourself when you aren’t following the plan

Your questions answered:
More expensive than a normal weekly shop?
I did a survey on Instagram to gauge what people are spending on a weekly shop and it really varied! There was single people who spent up to £80 a week or around £20! It sits right in the middle at £69 a week (for 6 days) and is less than £2 a meal and includes your fitness regime so it is reasonable!
Cost per LB lost?
I lost a total of 7.4lbs so it works out that it was £36.80 per lb lost during the 4 weeks.
Do the individual products have all the nutritional info on them?
Yes, all the products have all the nutritional information on them along with any cooking instructions and ingredients.
Final Thoughts
The plan is very reasonable for the price, especially compared to other meal prep services on the market. For example compared to Bodychef whose cheapest plan is £15.98 per day Do The Unthinkable is a really cheap but great quality alternative. However you can lose weight and spend a lot less money, and in the past I have, I lost 85 lbs through healthy eating, using the My Fitness Pal app and strength training at the gym but that came with a lot of weighing foods, and scanning and counting calories and mental and physical energy which this plan saves you. Ultimately it depends, what do you have more of; time or money.
Overall the last 4 weeks have been really easy diet wise, with no cooking, no cravings and having everything made and ready to eat has been amazing and freed up so much time for me. The workouts were extremely challenging and different to what I am use to but I noticed massive differences in my fitness in the first week alone.
Is it worth it?
If you have the motivation to follow the plan, it is definitely worth it. All you need is determination to succeed and the rest is done for you. I would have loved to complete Phase 2 & 3 as I believe the results would of been amazing.
