
- Some parts of you will never change, and there are some parts that will. You cannot spot reduce an area, no matter what anyone says so instead of punishing those parts of you, start trying to love them a little more and embrace them!
- You can be healthy and be ‘overweight’. The numbers on the scale do not equal #health so if your feeling good, your able to everything you want to and your happy with your body (or working on it!) don’t let the numbers define you. You can read my post ‘I’m 197lb & a fit chick’
- You don’t need a fancy gym membership to lose weight; expensive memberships are a thing of the past and it’s impossible to use the excuse of having no money to get fit now. With the fitness youtube & instagram blowing up, there are all types of workouts to get started, plus with apps on your phone you can become a runner, yogi and much more all for nothing!
- Don’t fall for quick fixes & weight-loss teas – Not only are they super expensive, they will probably only work for a short time, and you may spend more time pooping on the toilet than feeling great. It’s impossible to lose a significant amount of body fat in that time so your more than likely holding less water weight & feeling less bloated. It’s also common for weight gain to happen straight afterwards and you end up in an unhealthy diet cycle.
- Diet is key – you will not be able to outtrain a bad diet so you will not lose weight without making some changes to your diet. Thanks to science, we know that Calories in vs Calories out is extremely important nowadays to meet our goals.
- You will never have more time than you do now, so don’t make excuses that you have no time – If you cannot prioritise yourself and your fitness goals now when all you have is work/study/social commitments, you will never make yourself a priority. Get into the habit now and you won’t regret it later when you have families and other life commitments to worry about later on.

- Eating more might actually help you lose weight! Filling up on vegetables, salads, berries can kill hunger and make you feel fuller whilst decreasing your energy intake!
- Carbs are not the enemy! They are a great source of energy (esp for those workouts!), fibre and carry lots of nutrients! Try switching to more wholesome foods in the first instant and cutting out more of the beige processed junk!
- The same plan won’t work for everyone! No matter how many likes your favourite instagrammer’s booty workout got, you will not get the same results. Everyone is different and has different bodies so the same diets and workouts will not get the same results. Don’t be afraid to mix it up and find what you enjoy first to create sustainable lifestyle habits, not just copying the latest craze or fad.
- Social media is a great place to find support (no matter what the media says!) – Finding a supportive and like-minded community where you can ask questions, find inspiration and stay accountable is a great start for your fitness journey.
- Water is the key to EVERYTHING – Staying hydrated is not only good for you, it helps aid weight loss, maximise physical performance, improve brain function and energy levels, clears your skin and so much! Start glugging that h2o and notice the difference!!
- Nothing gets you in a better mood for a workout or gym session more than a banging playlist. Save all your favourite songs in one place and get ready to have the best time of your life, it makes getting your heart rate up so much easier.
- Motivation is fleeting, dig out the discipline and make a plan of action and stick to you. Don’t rely on motivation, we all know it is too unreliable. Schedule some time for yourself, set some SMART goals, plan your week and actually stick to it.
- Weight-loss doesn’t change your self worth or value, but building healthy habits and moving more will literally change your life. Not only will you reap all the health benefits on the inside, your mood will improve and you will be living your best life. YOU 2.0







Definitely with you on all these pointers Sian. Extreme weight loss is a long-term health goal that you’ve got to consistently be working to and committed to if you’re going to see serious results. Sadly in this day and age people want results immediately so would always look for shortcuts or excuses when they see they’re not making progress straight away.
Secret; Eat less, more physical exercise. Apply consistently over a long period of time.
