“I realized when you look at your mother, you are looking at the purest love you will ever know.”
-Mitch Albom
Dear Mummy,
I want to start by telling you how much I love you. I know I don’t always show it, and sometimes forget that the important things are the ‘I love you’s or the memories together, I know I’m not the easiest person to be around either these days, and I don’t say it as often as I should, but I do really from the bottom of my heart mean it. You are the most important and inspiring woman and person in my life, and have always been. Even as a little one you were my hero. I know life hasn’t been easy for you, and I probably haven’t helped it over the years, and you have sacrificed so much to bring us up the best you could and I am so grateful. You inspire me every day to be a better person and try to be more like you. You are the strongest woman I know, and have always come out 100x stronger every time something has knocked you down or back. I don’t know anyone with your determination or motivation to constantly want to better yourself and make your family’s life better, and I will always be thankful. I love you mummy, to the ends of the earth, to the moon and back.
The next part is the thank you’s. I don’t thank you enough for everything you do for me, even down to the little hugs and texts that you send. I want to thank you for raising me to be the best I can be, I want to thank you for the hugs, the kisses, the extreme love you give. I want to thank you for always inspiring me to be strong, and determined and to never give up. Thank you for all the tears you have wiped away, all the holidays and days out, all the family time. Thank you for working awful hours just to make sure we had a good Christmas or birthday, thank you for all the sacrifices you made so we could always have the best. Thank you for the times you’ve been my taxi on nights out, for rescuing me when I’ve been drunk and disorderly, for looking after me when I’m throwing up or when I actually have been ill in hospital. Thank you for holding my hand when I get blood tests or injections, for always trusting my decisions, and helping me learn from my mistakes. Thank you for all the laughter, the smiles, the lessons, the tears and for reminding me I will always have someone who loves me, even with all my flaws and imperfections. Thank you.
You have taught me so many things in life, from being a baby and saying my first words, to tying my shoe laces and reading books. You’ve taught me to always be myself, and not be sorry for who I am. To be kind, caring and selfless and to always try to give back. Although I will always lack the life experience and wisdom you have, I hope to share some of my own. In your dark days, when you feel like the world is against you and you feel sad, always remember its okay to cry, but also remember you are so so loved. Also, that when your feeling down, always remember that dogs will always pull on their leads just to get a sniff of you, meet you and give you a friendly hello and no matter what you say to them, they will always be excited for you. Another thing I’ve learnt is never second guess yourself, and always believe in the choices you make, you made them for a reason. If there’s a problem, there is always 3 solutions that will make everything better: sleep, ben & jerrys and a workout, if one fails, one will always succeed.

Lastly mummy, I want to say sorry. Sorry for all the times we fought, all the times I disobeyed your rules, all the fights we had. I am sorry for all the times I picked friends over staying with you, or ditching our plans for boys or alcohol. In life I often get distracted and I lose sight of the things that are important to me. You truly mean so much to me and I do not express it enough. You deserve someone who pays attention to all the little things you do, especially now when you do so much. I hope that someday when I am older you will forgive me for this, and I hope to let you know how appreciated you really are.
All in all, you are my entire world mummy. You are the sun, the moon and the stars and I love you to the end of time. I hope that you know that, and I hope you know that I think your perfect, even with your all flaws.
I love you.
