This year I finally bit the bullet, faced my needle phobia and got Lip Fillers. If you follow me on twitter, you will know that I am not shy when it comes to talking about cosmetic procedures, as I have also had a breast augmentation. So this year I went under the needle; not once, not twice, but 3 times. I’m not going to lie I was terrified but a bigger pout was something I had wanted for so long so I finally headed to London in January and had my first 1ml.
After spending hours researching I headed down to London. Nothing really prepares you for the treatment but I highly recommend reading up on it! I applied my numbing cream and thirty minutes later, I had a plumper pout. Lets not lie, it did hurt a little, but the second and third time hurt a lot more.
Two weeks later I had another 1ml put in to top up my pout as they don’t recommend having too much in one go. After the swelling went down a few weeks later, I had a plumper pout but still hadn’t reached my desired look.
May came around and I actually found out about a more local clinic in Newport Pagnell and decided to go ahead and book a consultation. I went to see the amazing Esther at Shujo Aesthetics. The difference in the service was insane. Esther put me at ease straight away and went through a really in-depth consultation and the quality of the treatment was 5 star. I explained I was needle phobic and she did her best to relax me and make it as pain-free as possible. Now it was still painful, thats just the nature of the treatment, but she was so gentle and had me check constantly to make sure that I was happy.
I left really pleased with the results, and I was shocked to notice the difference between the swelling and pain afterwards compared to the first time and second times in London. She is highly recommended and I honestly couldn’t sing any higher praises.
I can’t wait to have another top-up soon with Esther, but until then I thought I would share some things that you would never know till you’ve lip fillers done. There is also some input from the gorgeous babe Kelly (@llyhope) on the topic.
- Swelling – This completely depends person to person but nothing really prepared me for how swollen my whole mouth would be. For the next few days afterwards I couldn’t really talk properly, or even laugh. My whole upper part of the lip was swollen and my colleagues did have a few laughs at my expense!
- Food Porn – I never realised until having fillers done how much eating would turn into a porno! Trying to get any sort of food in your mouth whilst its swollen or even when they have settled down is a nightmare! Your mouth just doesn’t open as wide any more so makes eating in public a horrific ordeal
- Straws – Straws will legit become your best friend. After the first 1ml, I started using straws as I couldn’t drink any other way, and now I am addicted. I now drink everything with a straw thanks to having fillers, mainly because its a lot easier but you become co-dependant on them.
So there you go, I hope you enjoyed this light-hearted post on Lip Fillers and if your planning to have them done for the first time, I hope it prepares you a little more for what is too come, and take my advice; stock up on straws, they will become your new BFF!
Have you ever had Lip Fillers before? Was there anything you found that no-one told you about? Let me know in the comments!
Lots of love, S x
