When it comes to trying to lose weight, there are many small tricks and tips that will help you start your journey to a fitter you. To try and help you with your journey we have put together four simple ways to lose weight. By simply making some small changes, you will hopefully see some big differences in the long run.
Reduce Your Portion Size
When serving up your breakfast, lunch or dinner have you been taking note of the portion sizes you are eating? You may not realise it, but overeating is very common and is a simple way to change your diet and help you lose weight. Even when overeating with healthy foods, you may still struggle to lose weight due to your portion size. The next time you eat a meal, try to measure out what you are eating and make sure it’s not too much. Fitness apps like Myfitnesspal are great at helping you control your calories and to track what you are eating over a set period of time.
Become More Active
It probably sounds obvious when people say it, but by simply becoming more active you can instantly make a difference. When we say get more active, this doesn’t mean you have to instantly join a sports team, or head to the gym (although both will help). A good way to start is simply by moving about more. Why not start by trying to increase your step count each day? On your lunch break go for a walk and in the evening try and get out for a walk around the block. If you have friends who want to lose weight you could go out together and have a catch-up. Once you have started to be more active, you could then look at something more physical like running or swimming. A major difference from being more active that you will notice is an improvement in your mental health.
Drink Plenty Of Water
Water is key to a healthy diet! By drinking more water you’ll benefit in many areas that you may have not thought of. These areas include carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells, aiding digestion, stabilizing the heartbeat and cushioning your joints. Plus, it’s a well-known fact that some people confuse hunger with thirst, and simply having a glass of water can stop you from feeling hungry. The knock-on effect, helping you lose weight.
Reduce Your Alcohol Intake
We always say never to be too drastic when losing weight as it makes your changes unrealistic to stick to. That said, one area that will help you lose weight is to reduce your alcohol intake. Alcohol is very high in calories as well as being bad for you in many other ways. If you find yourself drinking a lot during the week, simply cutting down your intake will have a dramatic effect on weight.
If you have been following the steps above and are still struggling to lose weight and are finding it too hard, you could look at weight loss surgery to help.
