Post Gym Selfcare ft Nugg Face Masks

Recently I have been feeling a little under the weather. It seems with all the stress of a new job, trying to fit in my heavy gym routine, social life, hospital appointments, dog walks, sleep and food that life suddenly runs away and I am left with no time for me.

Self care is something I have seriously neglected. I don’t look after myself as much as I should do and I am sure that is the case for many of us out there, trying to meet our fitness goals and #boss our careers. My body and health has been on the back-burner, and with all the change in my hormones with my menopause injections I can definitely notice a difference in my skin, hair and nails.

I was over the moon when Nugg reached out* and asked if I wanted to try some face-masks. I had seen these all over instagram and they are the cutest packaging, and honestly the reviews I have read are so good I had to try them for myself!

Nugg come as ‘single serving’ natural cruelty free face masks and are pocket friendly, with a pocket friendly price tag! I love that the brand is run by women for women and even better, they give back to the community!

I was kindly sent the Charcoal detox face mask and the Deep hydration moisturising mask to try out and couldn’t wait to put them to the test.

Let me set the scene for my post-workout pamper session. I came home from the gym on sunday a hot mess. Sunday was a heavy Pull day for me, doing lots of rows & pull movements trying to get those ‘baby got back’ vibes, but overall I felt good, especially rocking my new pink leggings.

I lit a few candles, let the sunshine in through the window, popped on a Sam Hunt playlist on Spotify (country vibes!) and just sat down to chill.

I personally think the room environment makes all the difference when it comes to a pamper session, it helps you set the scene, unwind and switch off especially post workout when your probably wired from too much pre-workout.

So after setting the room to ‘chill vibes’ I got onto trying the Nugg beauty face masks.

Firstly, you get a lot of product, I could easily make the 1 mask do my whole face twice. This is a good yet bad thing as I found that when I used it a second time it wasn’t the same to apply, but the fact you get such a generous amount is amazing. These would be perfect for maybe a pamper sesh for 2!

All the masks apply in a clear/white milky gel and I used a synthetic foundation type brush to apply to my face. They do not foam or peel off so I would recommend a face cloth to remove with warm water.

When the face masks are applied, they give a shiny glow to the skin and do not really dry as such. I actually have really sensitive skin and masks from other brands tend to make my skin tingle but these were so gentle on my skin! The hydration mask was the real winner for me, my skin felt so soft afterwards didn’t look as dull or dry! I do tend to drink a lot of water during the day but I find my skin still suffers so this would be perfect for a little boost!

The Detoxifying mask did leave my skin a little red after washing the mask off, however this soon calmed down and my skin did feel softer but I didn’t feel like I got the boost I had with the Hydration mask.

Overall I think these masks are really good, and definitely would be perfect for a pamper weekend or even a spa weekend away to do some DIY spa treatments! I really did notice a difference in my skin and they would be great to use each week to give my skin a hydration boost!
